Description:
Barbara Maquera and Bill Villa, individually and as representatives of the Estate of Sheena Marie Villa, age 25, sued Robert E. LaBarre, age 30, and J.P. O'Malley's Pub on negligence and dram shop theories for the wrongful death of Ms. Villa who was killed in an auto accident in 2006. Plaintiffs claimed that LaBarre was drunk and the J.P. O'Malley's Pub served him alcohol when he was intoxicated. Villa was a passenger in LaBarre's car.
Outcome:
Plaintiffs' verdict for $1.1 million in compensatory damages and $2 million in punitive damages. The jury found in favor of J.P. O'Malley's Pub.
