Additional Information: David Hoyle represents victims of corporate wrongdoing and negligence, ranging from asbestos exposure and defective products to catastrophic incidents and environmental contamination. He litigates asbestos cases on behalf of U.S. and Canadian clients, working with individuals and unions on behalf of those suffering from mesothelioma and other asbestos-related diseases. He also litigates cases involving injury or death from fires, negligence and products liability and is currently working with the Environmental team on cases involving individuals and businesses in Gulf Coast communities suffering as a result of the BP oil spill.

During law school, David worked with Carolina Distinguished Professor of Law David G. Owen as a research assistant and student editor in the area of products liability. He received a James Louis Pettigru Public Interest Law Society grant to intern with the Federal Public Defender for the District of South Carolina and was a member of the Pro Bono Board, Order of the Wig and Robe and South Carolina Law Review. Following his admittance under the Student Practice Rule, he represented juvenile clients on delinquency petitions at the Juvenile Justice Clinic and received the Clinical Legal Education Association’s Clinical Student Award.

An active volunteer, David was a Bonner Scholar and recipient of the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award as an undergraduate. He worked more than 1,900 service hours for programs involving children, literacy, affordable housing and mental health. Today, David volunteers in the Charleston community with the Lowcountry AIDS Legal Clinic, Magdalene House of Charleston and Crisis Ministries.

David is the author of “Seal of Disapproval: International Implications of South Carolina’s Notary Statute,” 3 S.C.J.Int’l. L. & Bus. 1 (2006). He serves on the South Carolina Bar's Practice and Procedure Committee and is a member of the American Association for Justice, American Bar Association, South Carolina Association for Justice, Florida Justice Association and Public Justice.
