Davis, Sr. is the first and only African-American to command the 3rd BN 379th Regiment, 4 Bde, 95th Div, formerly located in Bossier City, Louisiana. Attorney S.P. Davis, Sr. is the first African-American Army Reservist from Shreveport, Louisiana to attend and graduate from the prestigious U.S. Army War College in Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania. Attorney S.P. Davis, Sr., represented City Councilman, Joe Shyne, in his 2006 bid to run for city councilman. The issue involved whether or not Councilman Shyne needed a gubernatorial pardon or a presidential pardon. The State District Court ruled against Councilman Shyne. After oral argument by Attorney S.P. Davis, Sr. the Louisiana Second Circuit Court of Appeal reversed the District Court and ruled in favor of Councilman Shyne. After oral argument by Attorney S.P. Davis, Sr., the Supreme Court of Louisiana agreed with Attorney Davis and Councilman Shyne holding that Councilman Shyne only needed a gubernatorial pardon to run for City Council. Attorney S.P. Davis, Sr., has tried and won the overwhelming majority of his civil and criminal trials.
