Matt Sherwood is a shareholder who began practicing law in 2008. He is Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Much of his practice focuses on civil litigation, representing clients in personal injury defense (often through insurance defense), non-subscriber litigation, employment litigation (including wage and hour claims, and retaliation claims), commercial litigation (including business disputes, contract disputes, and deceptive trade practices claims), construction disputes, and general civil litigation. Outside the litigation context, Mr. Sherwood consults with employers regarding employment policies, compliance with federal and state employment laws, and employee disputes. He also provides legal services to construction contractors outside the litigation arena. Since graduating from Texas Tech University School of Law in 2008, he has worked his entire legal career in Amarillo, Texas. He is licensed to practice in all Texas state courts, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, and the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Sherwood was named a 2012, 2013 and 2014 “Rising Star” by Texas Monthly Magazine, an honor awarded to less than 2.5% of the young lawyers in the state. He was also named a Top 20 Under 40 by the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce in 2011.
