Doe v. K-Mart Corp.

Premises liability - store patron kidnapped and sexually assaulted. Plaintiff, age 35, was shopping at a K-Mart when she was kidnapped during her lunch hour while returning to her car. She was sexually assaulted over a 22-hour period. She suffered posttraumatic stress syndrome and had medical expenses of approximately $5,600. She was making $14,000 a year as a bank teller but could not continue her employment. Plaintiff asserted that K-Mart provided inadequate security to keep its partking lot reasonably safe for patrons at the store, which Defendant knew was in a dangerous area.

Verdict for Plaintiff for $600,000.00.
