Chickasha, OK - Rebekah Ann Hoawkins, individually and as surviving spouse of Chad Todd Hawkins, deceased sued Bryan Shane Lake, individually; Sunoco Partners Marketing & Terminals, L.P. d/b/a Sunoco Logistics, a foreign for profit limited partnership on personal injury, wrongful death, auto negligence and respondeat superior theories claim that the Chad Todd Hawkins were killed in a motorcycle truck accident caused by Bryan Shane while acting within the scope and course of his employment with Sunoco.
The accident occurred in Grady County, Oklahoma on Autust 12, 2016 at about 5:11 a.m. Decedent was Westbound on State Highway 19 on his motorcycle to report for work at an oil rig drilling location outside of Chickasha, Oklahoma. As decedent approached the intersection of Cedar Hill Road, Defendant Bryan Shane Lake was operating a Sunoco Logistics semi-tractor trailer within the scope and course of the employment and attempted to make a left-hand turn to travel east on State Highway 19. Chad Hawkins' motorcycle collided with the Sunoco truck killing him.
Defendants admitted that the accident occurred and that Hawkins was killed but denied fault and claimed contributory fault on the part of the decedent claiming that he was driving at an excessive rate of speed.
