Bronx, NY - The Estate of Kalief Browder sued the City of New York of New York on a civil rights violation wrongful death theory claiming that Kalief Browder, age 22, who was held in Rikers Island, including two years in solitary confinement, when he was a teenager, committed suicide as a direct result of the way he was wrongfully treated by the City.
Mr. Browder was accused of stealing a backpack and was held on the charge for three years before the charges were dropped.
