Robert Shawah and others sued Schindler Elevator Corporation and the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority on negligence theories claiming that as a direct result of the Defendants' failure to exercise due care in the maintenance of an escalator at Gaints Stadium, they sustained crushing foot and leg injuries when the escalator that they were using malfunctioned.
Joe Capusano, age 25, suffered injuries to his right foot and ankle. His past medical bills totaled $588,000 and his future meds were estimated to be $1.1 million.
Pooja Sadhwani, in her mid-20s, suffered soft tissue injuries to her left wrist and back.
Robert Shawah, age 58, suffered multiple toe fractures to his left foot.
The Plaintiffs claimed that Schlinder did not properly maintain or upgrade the unit in question.
