Michael Carbo, Jr., age 53, was accused of killing Nancy Daughert, age 38, in 1986.
Defendant's DNA was found under the victim's finger nails.
The victim was sexually assaulted, beaten & strangled.
Authorities did not have a sample of his DNA but searches of GEDMatch and FamilyTreeDNA. Close relatives of Carbo were identified and trash bags that he threw into a dumpster were retrieved and samples of DNA taken from the trash matched the DNA from the crime scene.
Carbo voluntarily submitted a simple of his DNA and it also matched.
