Description:

Judith Dadd sued Mount Hope Church on a negligence theory and Pastor David R. Williamson a defamation theory claiming that she was damaged and
injured as a result of the way that she was treated by Defendants after a fall during a service at the church. She based her claim for injuries arising from the fall on a premises liability theory asserting that there was no usher present at the alter of the church
to catch her when she fell and hit her head on the floor when she was "overcome by the Spirit of the Lord" during the service. She also claimed that she was defamed by Williamson who said that she was faking her injuries when she asked for help with the medical expenses that she incurred from the fall and that she was attempting to commit insurance fraud. Dadd is a district sales coordinator for AFLAC, the insurance company with the commercials featuring a talking duck. Dadd, who was a member of the church for 12 years, claims she still suffers from the effects of the fall, including symptoms of depression, memory loss and difficulty concentrating.

The defenses asserted by Defendants are not available at this time.
