Description:

Don DiFiore and other American Airlines skycaps sued American Airlines claiming that it wrongfully imposed a $2 bag-check curbside check fee depriving them of the income that they needed to supplement their below minimum wage income from American. They claimed that travelers assumed the fee was an imposed tip or part of one thus reducing their tips. Plaintiffs claimed that when American planned the new curbside fee, it estimated a net gain of $16 million to $20 million a year, compared to the $7 million cost of hiring its skycaps.

American denied wrongdoing.
