The Family and Estate of Richard Outcault sued Dr. Gregory A. Bazylewicz and Family Medicine Associates on a negligence theory claiming that defendants committed medical malpractice when they acted below the standard of care in examining and treating Outcault for shortness of breath and other symptoms of heart failure in 1999. Outcault, age 47, who was a runner, began to experience shortness of breath and intolerance of exercise in 1998. He sought treatment on numerous occasions from defendants but was never diagnosed with heart failure and was never referred to a cardiologist.
Defendants denied wrongdoing.
