Description:
Phoenix, Arizona, criminal defense lawyer represented the Defendant charged with three counts of Organized Retail Theft, a Class Four Felony.
Connor Burgess (DOB 12/1993), committed a series of retail thefts targeting sporting goods retailers across the valley, resulting in more than $26,000 in losses. In one incident, he stole seven golf clubs valued at more than $4,200 from a Dick’s Sporting Goods store. Investigators later linked him to six additional thefts at multiple PGA TOUR Superstores, another Dick’s Sporting Goods, and a Scheels location.
The crimes were captured on surveillance video, and investigators identified Burgess through online listings in which he attempted to sell the stolen merchandise.
“Organized retail theft is not a harmless crime. It drives up costs for families and puts businesses and employees at risk,” said County Attorney Rachel Mitchell. “If you come to Maricopa County to steal and profit off our retailers, you will be identified, prosecuted, and held accountable.”
