Description:

Plaintiffs claimed that they were repeatedly raped and sodomized by a youth minister hired by Diocese of Rockville Centre and that Defendants negligently failed to protect them.

Defendants denied that they were negligent and asserted that youth minister, who was charged and pleaded guilty to third-degree rape and sodomy in 2003 and served more than two years in prison, alone was responsible for the sexual abuse.

Outcome: Plaintiff's verdict for the female victim for about $5.5 million in damages, and a second male victim about $5.9 million.
