Debra Jenkins, an employee in the Payroll Department at Langston University since 1979, sued the Oklahoma Agriculture & Mechanical Colleges Board of Regents for discriminating against her because of her race, 42 U.S.C. 2000e, in promoting an African-American in a supervisor position and then asking her to perform some of the supervisor's duties without compensation. She further claimed that the defendant retaliated against her after she filed a complaint with the Oklahoma Human Rights Department by putting her on a month-to-month contract while continuing to contract with all other employees in the Department on a year-to-year basis.
Outcome: Plaintiff's verdict for $300,000.00.
