Description: Marsha Walters was hired in 1995 by Oklahoma County and eventually became a building manger for the county for the Investor's Capital Building located immediately east of the County Office building. She unsuccessfully applied for three other positions with the County that were given to white applicants. She was fired in what was described as a cost cutting effort. She alleged that she and other black employees were let go by County Commissioners Jack Cornett, Jim Roth and Stuart Earnest because they were black. At the time she was fired, the only other black department manger was demoted. The Commissioners to fired Walters to save money then voted to give themselves raises.
Outcome: Settled for $20,000.00.
