Description: Covington, Kentucky criminal defense lawyer represented the Defendant charged with conspiracy to distribute 100 kilograms or more of marijuana.

Beginning in 2017, law enforcement began investigating suspicious packages being mailed from California to multiple addresses in Northern Kentucky, which were associated with Ryan Stivers, age 30, of Florence, Kentucky. During the investigation, law enforcement seized significant amounts of marijuana and cash proceeds of drug trafficking. Stivers admitted to his participation in the marijuana distribution conspiracy and that he was responsible for distributing at least 100 kilograms of marijuana.

Under federal law, Stivers must serve 85 percent of his prison sentence. Upon his release from prison, he will be under the supervision of the U.S. Probation Office for four years.

Carlton S. Shier, IV, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky; and Lesley Allison, Special Agent in Charge, United States Postal Inspection Service, Pittsburgh Field Division; and Orville O. Greene, Special Agent in Charge, DEA, Detroit Field Division, jointly announced the sentence.

The investigation was conducted by USPIS and DEA.
