Description: Amite City, Louisiana criminal defense lawyer represented the Defendant charged with drug possession.
The defendant, Tierre O. Ramsey, was charged by bill of information with possession of fentanyl or carfentanil with an aggregate weight of two grams or more but less than twenty-eight grams (count one), in violation of La. He pled not guilty and, following a jury trial, was convicted as charged. The defendant filed a motion for post-verdict judgment of acquittal, a motion for new trial, and a motion in arrest of judgment, all of which were denied. The trial court sentenced the defendant to concurrent terms of ten years at hard labor on count one, five years at hard labor on count two, and five years at hard labor on count three. The defendant filed a motion to reconsider sentence which was granted, in part, and denied, in part.[1] The defendant now appeals, designating four assignments of error. For the following reasons, we affirm the defendant's convictions and sentences.
