Gallup Man Sentenced for Sexual Abuse of Minors



A Gallup man was sentenced to 10 years in prison followed by 10 years of supervised release for sexually abusing two minors.

Between August 2012 and August 2013, Lathem Eskeets, 30, an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, engaged in sexual acts with John Doe, who was older than 12, but younger than 16 at the time, and Jane Doe, who was younger than 12 at the time, while living at their mother’s residence near Church Rock, New Mexico.

Eskeets will be required to register as a sex offender upon his release from prison.

U.S. Attorney Alexander M.M. Uballez and Raul Bujanda, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, made the announcement today.

The Gallup Resident Agency of the FBI Albuquerque Field Office investigated this case with assistance from the Navajo Nation Department of Investigation and Department of Criminal Investigations. Assistant United States Attorney Zachary C. Jones is prosecuting the case.

Outcome:

Defendant was found guilty and sentenced to 10 years in prison followed by 10 years of supervised release. Eskeets will be required to register as a sex offender upon his release from prison.
