Ryan Cook, 45, of Albuquerque, was charged with possession of an unregistered firearm. On June 24, 2020, law enforcement received a call from Cook’s roommate about an explosive device in Cook’s possession at their shared residence in Los Lunas, New Mexico. After a standoff with the local SWAT team, Cook surrendered and was arrested. Law enforcement located and secured the destructive device.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, investigated this case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Samuel Hurtado prosecuted the case.
