Description: Castle Rock, CO - The State of Colorado charged Alex McKinney, age 16, and Devon Erickson, age 19, with first-degree murder and numerous other felonies for shooting and killing one student and wounding eight other students at the STEM School Highlands Ranch on May 8, 2019.

Kendrick Castillo, age 18, was killed when he tried to stop the defendants from shooting others.

The affidavit of probably cause stated that Devon Erickson was found in room #107 (inside STEM School) and multiple shot. Erickson was identified as the shooter. Devon was described as a white male with pink hair. A second shooter, Alex McKinney was described as wearing a Nirvana hoodie and having purple and black hair and was armed with pistols.

McKenney was described as having been suicidal since age 12.

Defendants claimed that they were hated by the students that they attacked.

Outcome: Alex McKinney pleaded guilty and will likely be sentenced to life in prison. Devon Erickson was found guilty.
