Description: Danny Webb sued Ramos Oil Co. on a wrongful termination theory for refusing to drive in a ferocious storm while intoxicated. He claimed that he gained weight and suffered depression when he was no longer able to support his daughter.
Webb was employed by Ramos for 13 years. On January 4, 2008, Sacramento was hit by a severe storm with winds up to 69 miles per hours. Webb made all the deliveries that he was ordered to make despite being concerned with his safety. After ending his shift and going home, he went to the Bob's Bar in Elk Grove and began drinking. The Ramose dispatcher called him several times demand that he continue to make deliveries but Webb refused.
The Defendant denied wrongdoing.
Outcome: Plaintiff's verdict for $6 million including $2.6 million in compensatory damages and $3.58 million in punitive damages.
