Description: Scranton, Pennsylvania criminal law lawyer represented Defendant charged with possession with intent to distribute over 50 grams of methamphetamine.
On June 9, 2021, in Lackawanna County, Douglas Richard Spencer, age 40, from Moscow, Pennsylvania, possessed with intent to distribute approximately 190 grams of actual methamphetamine. Additionally, Spencer, a previously convicted felon, unlawfully possessed five firearms, including an un-serialized 9mm “ghost gun,†all of which were seized pursuant to a residential search warrant.
This matter was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP). Assistant United States Attorney Jeffery St John prosecuted the case.

violence, and to make our neighborhoods safer for everyone. (1)
(a) Unlawful actsExcept as authorized by this subchapter, it shall be unlawful for any person knowingly or intentionally—
(1) to manufacture, distribute, or dispense, or possess with intent to manufacture, distribute, or dispense, a controlled substance; or
(2) to create, distribute, or dispense, or possess with intent to distribute or dispense, a counterfeit substance.
Outcome: Defendant was sentenced to 132 months in prison, followed by 5 years of supervised release.
