Thomas R. Valen's practice is concentrated in Complex Commercial Litigation, International Law, and White Collar Criminal Defense. Mr. Valen has played a leading role in numerous substantial international litigations, including representing European companies and countries in defending claims seeking reparations for injuries arising out of World War II. He has also represented European banks in defense of claims seeking to hold them liable for violations of international law by governments with which the banks did business. In addition, he has represented the government of Saudi Arabia to coordinate the defenses of Saudi nationals charged with federal crimes in the District of New Jersey. Currently, Mr. Valen is representing the Presiding Officers of the New Jersey Legislature in connection with New Jersey's efforts to legalize wagering on sports events. Mr. Valen also regularly counsels individuals and corporations in connection with shareholder disputes, insider trading and other securities law violations, and other various commercial matters.
