R.J. represents businesses, government entities, and private individuals involved in disputes and regulatory issues. He practices in the areas of commercial litigation, oil, gas & energy law, land use & water law, and real estate & construction law. Before joining Vogel, R.J. worked as a litigation and appellate associate at a large law firm in Dallas, Texas.

R.J. graduated from Duke University with a B.A. in Public Policy and earned his J.D., with honors, at Southern Methodist University School of Law. During law school, he was Lead Articles Editor of the SMU Law Review, a National Moot Court Team member, a James Cleo Thompson Scholarship recipient, and a member of Phi Delta Phi legal honors fraternity. R.J. also completed externships with the Honorable Daniel L. Hovland of the U.S. District Court of North Dakota and with the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission. R.J.�s favorite thing about practicing law is working with clients to help them achieve the best solutions to their legal problems.

R.J. and his wife Kellen, an optometrist, both grew up in Bismarck. They spend their free time running, mountain biking, watching Duke Blue Devils basketball, and enjoying Bismarck�s restaurant and live music scene.
