Additional Information: Peter Abrahams joined the firm as a partner in 1986. He has handled hundreds of civil appeals in the California Court of Appeal, the California Supreme Court, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Mr. Abrahams’ recent successes include the reversal of a $12 million judgment in Baker v. National Interstate Insurance Company (2009) and a win before the Ninth Circuit in Northrup Grumman Corp. v. Factory Mut. Ins Co. (2008), a case involving a dispute over insurance coverage for $1 billion in damage caused by Hurricane Katrina.

Prior to joining Horvitz & Levy, Mr. Abrahams was a name partner with O’Flaherty, Abrahams & Carl. Before that, he was a litigation associate, and later partner, with Harrington, Foxx, Dubrow & Canter. Earlier, he served as a research attorney for Associate Justice Clarke E. Stephens, California Court of Appeal, Second Appellate District, Division Five. He is admitted to practice before California state courts, the Ninth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.

Mr. Abrahams is the author or co-author of several articles on civil procedure and appellate law topics and has been a frequent Continuing Education of the Bar lecturer. He has also been named a Best Lawyer by The Best Lawyers in America each year since 2007, and has been listed four times as a Southern California Super Lawyer by Super Lawyers Magazine, most recently in 2009 and 2010.

Mr. Abrahams received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of California at Los Angeles and his Juris Doctor from Loyola Law School of Los Angeles. While at Loyola, he was a Member of Loyola Law Review and a Teaching Fellow in Legal Writing.
