Michael P. Gibson attended Texas Wesleyan College (B.S. cum laude 1966) and Southern Methodist University (J.D. 1971). He began his legal career as an Assistant District Attorney in Dallas County. He joined the Firm in 1973. He is licensed to practice law in Texas; the United States District Courts - Northern, Eastern and Western Districts of Texas, District of Montana, District of Colorado, Eastern District of Michigan and Northern District of New York; the United States Court of Appeals - Fifth and Eleventh Circuits; and the United States Supreme Court. He has written and lectured at numerous criminal law seminars and was the Course Director for the State Bar Advanced Criminal Law Course and the TCDLA Federal Criminal Law Short Course.

He has been an Adjunct Professor with the SMU School of Law in the areas of Constitutional Criminal Law, Federal Criminal Trial Practice and Trial Advocacy for over 15 years. He was President of the Dallas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and Chairman of the Criminal Justice Committee for the Dallas Bar. He is currently a member of the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and has served as a member of the Board of Directors for 12 years. He is also a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys.
