Andrew Deiss has significant trial, appellate, arbitration, and mediation experience. His practice includes litigating commercial disputes involving commercial contracts, intellectual property, securities, fiduciary duties, professional liability issues, business competition and antitrust. He has represented Fortune 500 companies as well as many well-known businesses in the Western United States. In addition, Andy has significant experience in healthcare litigation and had represented numerous doctors, hospitals, medical associations, and patients in both medical malpractice and commercial disputes. Andy was born in Salt Lake City, Utah and attended Yale University where he received his B.A. in 1986. He received his M.A. from the University of Chicago Graduate School of History in 1991. He then matriculated in the University of Chicago Law School where he served as Comment Editor of the University of Chicago Legal Forum, and was a member of the University of Chicago Roundtable. Andy received his J.D. in 1995. Andy served as judicial clerk for the Honorable Christine Durham, Chief Justice of the Utah State Supreme Court. Andy has also authored several publications that have been cited by numerous courts across the nation, including the United States Supreme Court. Andy also serves as an adjunct Professor at the University of Utah in both the Honors Program and the Communications Department, where he teaches courses in United States Legal History and the First Amendment. He is a member of the America Society of Trial Consultants. Andy was listed in Utah Business Magazine’s listing of Utah’s Legal Elite for the areas of business litigation and personal injury in 2005 and business litigation in 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009. He has an AV Peer Rating which is the highest rating awarded to attorneys for professional competence and ethics awarded by LexisNexis Martindale-Hubbell.
