Description: Evergreen, Conecuh County, AL - The State of Alabama charged James Leon Windham, age 66, with one count of felony interference with the custody of a child. The State asserted by Defendant took the two children of Terry Thomas Gray who worked with Windham's wife at the local animal shelter. Windham thought that Gray had been responsible for his wife being fired and the two had been arguing shortly before driving them away in his car.
Defendant claimed that Gray left his children at a bus stop and took them to their mother.
Outcome: Jury was found guilty and is subject to a sentence of 10 years in prison and a $15,000 fine.
