Description: Miami, Florida employment lawyer represented Plaintiff who sued Defendants on Fair Labor Standards Act violation theories.

The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) provides a number of protections for workers in the United States, including:

Minimum wage: The FLSA establishes a federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour. States may set a higher minimum wage, but they cannot set a lower one.
Overtime pay: The FLSA requires employers to pay overtime pay to employees who work more than 40 hours in a week. Overtime pay is typically time-and-a-half, meaning that employees are paid 1.5 times their regular rate of pay for overtime hours.
Child labor: The FLSA sets limits on the number of hours that children can work and the types of jobs that they can do. For example, children under the age of 16 cannot work in hazardous occupations.
Recordkeeping: The FLSA requires employers to keep records of their employees' hours worked, wages paid, and other information. This information can be used to enforce the FLSA's provisions.

The FLSA also provides some protections for agricultural workers and domestic workers. These workers are not covered by all of the FLSA's provisions, but they do have some protections, such as the minimum wage and overtime pay.

The FLSA is enforced by the Wage and Hour Division of the U.S. Department of Labor. If you believe that your employer is violating the FLSA, you can file a complaint with the Wage and Hour Division. The Wage and Hour Division can investigate your complaint and take action against your employer if it finds that there has been a violation.
