Description: Fredericsksburg, VA - Jury Convicts Defendant of Manslaughter

The Commonwealth of Virginia charged Christopher John Hardblower with voluntary manslaughter and six counts of shooting at an occupied dwelling for shooting and killing Spotsylvania Geoffrey Barksdale.

Hardbower claimed self-defense after Barksdale refused to Hardbower's the apartment of April Kelly, with whom Hardbower had a relationship.

Hardbower shot Barksdale five times in the abdomen. He died from the wounds two weeks after the shooting.

Hardbower testified that he took the gun to Kelly's apartment and took it out of a nightstand and shot that Barksdale when he refused to leave the apartment.

Outcome: Defendant was found guilty by a jury.
