Description: Manchester, KY - Jury Awards Plaintiffs $21.7 Million In Products Case

The Families and Estates of Eddy Sizemore, age 61, Herman "Lee" Dobbs, age 40, and Jesse Jones, age 28, sued Bell Helicopter Textron Inc. wrongful death products liability theories claiming that the Bell 206 L-1 helicopter that crashed killing all of them on June 7, 2013.

The Plaintiffs claimed that the helicopter was defective and unreasonably dangerous in that the rotor blades manufactured and incorporated in the machine were defective and Bell knew it.

The helicopter crashed in an elementary school parking lot about 750 feet from the helipad and burst into fames

The National Transportation Safety Board blamed the crash of the pilot.

Evidence produced during the trial revealed that Bell executives had known about serious defects in the main rotors that Bell manufactured for more than 20 years.

Outcome: Plaintiffs' verdicts totaling $21.7 million.
