Description: Chicago, IL - Christine Tucker, individually and on behalf of the Estate of Jessica Mejia v. Cook County Sheriff's Department on emotional distress and tort of outrage theories for undressing and photographing the nude body at the scene of the accident where she was killed. Ms. Mejia was a passenger in a Mercedes being driven by a man named Nicholas Sord, who was drunk and hit a pole. The car rolled into a ditch. The Plaintiffs claimed that the Sheriff's office photographer partially undressed her in public view.
Nicholas Sord claimed that Ms. Mejia was straddling him as he drove the car.
The Sherriff's office employees testified that they were following protocol and were trying to preserve evidence to use against Sord.
Sord was convicted of manslaughter and was sentenced to prison.
Outcome: Defendant's verdict.
