Description: Burley, ID - Jury Convicts Two Men of Assaulting and Battering A Teenage Hunter
The State of Idaho charged Rodge Powell and Jeff Owen Smith with felony injury to a child, misdemeanor interfering with a lawful hunt, grand theft of a firearm, burglary and a lesser charge of unlawful entry.
The State claimed that the defendants assaulted and battered the 16-year-old boy and threatened him for hunting "their" deer. The victim claimed that he was choked and threatened and that the Defendant's took his .308 Remington rifle.
Outcome: Defendants were found guilty of felony injury to a child and misdemeanor interfering with a lawful hunt and not guilty on the other charges.
