Description: Medical negligence. Plaintiff claimed that two psychiatrist on Rush Presbyterian's staff brainwashed her into believing that she was a satanic high priestess. Plaintiff accused the defendants of using drugs and hypnosis to convice her during a psychiatric ward stay from 1986 to 1988 that she was a member of a satanic cult and had participated in various and sundry improper acts.

Outcome: $10.6 million (Rush Presbyterian to pay $3.5 million and the two psychiatriststo pay the balance.)
