Description: Andrea Charron sued the Town of Griswald on a wrongful termination theory claiming that she was fired from her secretarial job with the Board of Selectmen after writing an emotional letter to Anne Hatfield on Jan. 12, 2006, criticizing her and her actions following a fire that gutted the Old Town Hall. She further claimed that her First Amendment civil rights were violated because she spoke up and was fired for doing so.

The defenses asserted by Defendant are not available.

Outcome: Plaintiff's verdict for $1.3 million including $835,871 in economic damages, $14,723.42 in punitive damages, attorney fees of #223,650 and costs of 1,057.90 plus interest at 8 percent.
