Russell R. Barton attended Schreiner College (1982-84) and Baylor University (J.D., cum laude, 1991). He was a Notes and Comments Editor (1990) and Managing Editor (1990-91) of the Baylor Law Review. He was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1991. Russell's practice is primarily civil appellate and civil trial litigation. His practice involves complex business litigation and appeals, including oil and gas, contract, and business tort litigation. Russell's appellate practice includes appeals of judgments in both state and federal courts, interlocutory appeals, and mandamus proceedings. Russell has also represented automobile dealers before the Texas Motor Vehicle Division, and he has represented denominational organizations on a variety of issues, including Constitutional issues. Russell is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Federal Court for the Northern District of Texas, and all Texas State trial and appellate courts. Russell is rated AV¹ by Martindale-Hubbell and has been voted as a Top Appellate Lawyer of Tarrant County, Texas by fellow lawyers – Fort Worth Magazine (2007-2009). He is a member of the Federal Bar Association, the Bar Association of the Fifth Federal Circuit, the Texas Association of Defense Counsel, the State Bar of Texas Appellate Section, and the Tarrant County Bar Association Appellate Section. He is a Life Fellow of the Tarrant County Bar Foundation and a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation.
