Additional Information: Marty graduated from Hartsville High in 1961 and Clemson in 1965. After serving as an Air Force officer from 1966 to 1970, Marty attended USC Law School from 1970-1973 and returned home to practice law. In 1980, Marty established his own law office here at 323 West Home Avenue. Among many professional distinctions, Marty has served on the Supreme Court's Board of Grievances (1981to 1984) and on the Supreme Court's Commission for Lawyer Competence and Specialization (1989 to 1996). In addition to private practice, Marty has continuously served as Hartsville's City Attorney since 1985 and proudly serves as Special Counsel to The Sonoco Mens Club, the Southeastern Bluegrass Association, and Hartsville's RenoFest Bluegrass Festival. Marty was selected in 2003 as one of the OUTSTANDING LAWYERS OF AMERICA. Marty and his wife Nancy have two sons, Martin and Benson, who are both Clemson graduates. Martin works for a Columbia, SC law firm and Benson is a second year student at USC law school.
