Expertise: Dr. Spears is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Florida and a Certified American Welding Society Inspector. His expertise includes Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Traffic Control, and Biomechanics. Dr. Spears specializes in motor vehicle accident reconstruction; slip, trip and fall; premise liability and code compliance; and product liability. As a principal consultant engineer with Florida Forensic Engineering, Inc., in their Largo, FL office, Dr. Spears is involved with numerous projects that require mechanical, structural and materials engineering expertise. He is a member of SAE Automobile Accident Investigation Practices Standards Committee and ASTM F13 committee that concerns slip resistance of walkway surfaces and other premise liability issues. Dr. Spears is an adjunct professor in the Engineering Department at the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL, where he teaches Mechanics and Materials Science and is engaged in research in biomechanics and civil engineering. He is active in the Florida Engineering Society and has taught sessions in Professional Engineering Examination Preparation courses for over 20 years.
