Description:
Products liability - prescription diabetes drug Rezulin - wrongful death - Rezulin, which was used to treat Type II, or adult-onset diabetes, has been blamed for dozens of deaths from liver failure, and thousands of other liver damage problems around the world, from 1997 to 2000. In their lawsuit against the drug-maker, Monica George's three daughters also contended that Warner-Lambert covered up proof of Rezulin's dangerous side effects. Attorneys for George, 68, argued that Rezulin was the reason the Rockville woman's liver failed after she took the drug for less than a year. She died in September 1998 while awaiting a liver transplant. The plaintiffs asked for $10 million in compensatory damages and an undisclosed amount of punitive damages, claiming Warner-Lambert was driven by profits to suppress information about the drug's harmful side effects.
