David Canfield claimed that Steve Russo, the mayor of Orange Beach, Alabama, caused him to be falsely arrested on a charge of theft-by-deception after his wife filed a complaintiff converning overtime for Orange Beach employees. The criminal charge was eventually dropped. Canfield allged that Russo used his influence to get arrested based on Canfield use of a credit account to purchase $2,000 in merchandise from Sam's.
