Gavin Grimm v. Gloucester County School Board

Newport News, VA - Gavin Grimm, transgender student, sued the Gloucester County School Board on a Civil Rights Education Amendments Act Claim violation claiming the the defendant school system violated his constitutional rights by adopting a policy that prevented him from dressing like a male and using either the girls' or boys' restrooms. The Defendant constructed single-stall unisex restrooms for his use. <br>

Gavin Grimm, a transgender boy, commenced this action against the Gloucester<br>
County School Board in July 2015, alleging that the School Board’s policy of assigning<br>
students to restrooms based on their biological sex violated Title IX and the Equal<br>
Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment.<br>
