Texarkana, TX - Criminal defense attorney represented Denzel Dredon Jackson with an Aggravated Sexual Assault charge
Denzel Dredon Jackson has filed an appeal from a judgment of conviction entered by the
8th Judicial District Court of Hopkins County. Jackson was represented by appointed counsel at
trial. After appointed trial counsel filed a notice of appeal on Jackson's behalf, the trial court
granted counsel's motion to withdraw without appointing new counsel to represent Jackson on
appeal. We abated this appeal for a determination by the trial court of (1) whether Jackson still
wanted to prosecute this appeal and, if so, (2) whether Jackson was indigent and entitled to the
appointment of counsel to represent him on appeal.
This appeal has returned to our Court following abatement. The supplemental record
filed in this Court reflects that, at the abatement hearing on December 11, 2020, Jackson told the
trial court that he wanted to dismiss this appeal.
Accordingly, we dismiss this appeal.
