Description:
Nashville, TN - Patricia Greene Gayden sued Vanderbilt University Medical Center on a medical negligence (medical malpractice) theory claiming that she was injured and/or damaged as a direct result of have received substandard care while a patient at the Defendant's hospital. Plaintiff underwent surgery to remove her thyroid because it was thought possible that she had thyroid cancer. Subsequent to the surgery the gland could not be found and, as a result, Plaintiff does not know whether she had cancer or not and suffered emotional distress.



Defendant admitted that the tissue was lost but denied negligence.
Outcome:
Plaintiff's verdict for $2 million.
