The State of Tennessee charged Mark Gianni with aggravated rape.



Giannini, a prominent Memphis business man, was charged with sexually assaulting a woman who worked as a server in a local Waffle House. She claimed that she went to his mansion for what she though was a job interview.

She claimed that he brutally raped her and that she required medical treatment after the encounter.



The defense attempted to discredit the woman by challenging her credibility based on the fact that she was convicted of a felony and pointing out that she sued Giannini for money damages.
