Date: 10-14-2026
Case Number: 4:26-cr-40041
Judge: Karen E. Schreier
Court: United States District Court for the District of South Dakota (Minnehaha County)

In January of this year, Jorge Ramos, age 37, wearing a black facemask, was driving a car with dealer plates and had attempted to evade law enforcement numerous times, speeding away when detectives activated their lights and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. Ramos ultimately fled from the vehicle and threw a semi-automatic pistol to the ground where it was discovered by law enforcement. The gun had previously been stolen from a parked car in Sioux Falls. Ramos, who was found in possession of fentanyl, pills, and drug paraphernalia, admitted not only to possessing the stolen semi-automatic pistol but to having traded methamphetamine to acquire the gun earlier that day. Ramos was prohibited from possessing the gun because of a felony conviction for Identity Theft in 2024, in Minnehaha County. He has been convicted of several other offenses.
