Plaintiff was assaulted with a knife at this night club in downtown Charleston, South Carolina on November 20, 2003. The night club failed to have proper security. The defendant had thrown out the perpetrator for an altercation that night, and then let the same perpetrator back into the establishment. The defendant was found guilty of negligence, gross negligence and recklessness in failing to provide adequate security. The plaintiff was awarded $2,489,576.10 in damages, to wit, $829,858.70 in actual damages and $1,659,717.40 in punitive damages.
