Venezuelan National Sentenced for Resisting Arrest by Federal Officers</h2></center></b></b></center></><br>

A Venezuelan national unlawfully residing in the United States as been sentenced to time served (five months), having pleaded guilty to a charge resisting arrest of a federal officer.<br>
<br>
On February 13, 2025, Edward Antonio Reyes Calderon, 23, struggled with Immigration and Customs Enforcement Deportation Officers for several minutes while they tried handcuffing him. An officer deployed pepper spray to gain control of him. Two of the officers suffered minor injuries.<br>
<br>
Reyes Calderon remains in custody awaiting deportation proceedings.<br>

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Peter I. Roklan and Taylor A. Dean.<br>
