Family and Estate of Nancy Miller v. Excela Health Latrobe Hospita fka Latrobe Area Hospital

Family and Estate of Nancy Miller, age 59, Excela Health Latrobe Hospita fka Latrobe Area Hospital and Dr. John Horne on a medical negligence medical malpractice) wrongful death theory claiming Mrs. Miller received substandard care while a patient in the hospital and died. Miller's husband, Bruce, claimed that Dr. John Horne misdiagnosed and inappropriately treated for her complaints of chest pain.

Defendants denied that Mrs. Miller did not receive appropriate medical care and suggested there was no way to determine the exact cause of death because toxicology tests were never performed as part of the autopsy. The further asserted that Miller did not suffer a heart attack and may have died by taking an excessive dose of heart medication.

Plaintiff's verdict for $1.5 million.
