Patricia Littell sued Allstate Insurance Company for failing to protect her from being sexually harassed at work by Todd Aakhus. Littell worked for Allstate in its in house legal department in Albuquerque before Aakhus, an attorney, was hired in 1998 as the company's lead trial lawyer for the company in its Albuquerque office. She claimed that he started telling her dirty jokes a day or two after he came to work there and persisted in doing so despite her protestations that he stop and despite complaints that she made to the company about his conduct. She further complained that he retaliated against her when she complained about his behavior. She left Allstate in 2002. Aakhus was fired after Littell quit and died in 2003.
